What we’re all about

The C House, proudly located in the historic (and cool!) Seminole Heights district of Tampa, is a purveyor of fine champagne, charcuterie, cheesecake, and other consciously-curated goods that all start with the letter C. Everything that we sell, from the cookies and the cupcakes and the cheeseburgers and the ceviche, to the craft beer and the cocktails and the California Cab and the Canadian Bacon, starts with the letter C.

Everything that we sell, from the cookies and the cupcakes and the cheeseburgers and the ceviche, to the craft beer and the cocktails and the California Cab and the Canadian Bacon, starts with the letter C.

So, why the letter C? Well, the story goes like this: it was November 25, 2016 and The C House’s founder, Danna, and her husband, Rhett, were driving back to Tampa after Thanksgiving celebrations in Georgia. Soon after pulling out of Nana and Papa’s driveway, Rhett and Danna began discussing how they could introduce the world to Rhett’s mama’s cheesecake. ‘Special K’, as she was fondly dubbed by Danna, is a cheesecake legend within the family, and the couple knew that they had to find a way to share the culinary goodness with the fine people of Tampa and beyond!

So, why the letter C? A decade earlier while in law school, Danna had already committed to herself that she would one day open a champagne and dessert lounge. Now, picking up on that idea once on the backburner, she honed in on champagne and cheesecake as a winning combination and soon added charcuterie. Then cupcakes. Then cookies. Somewhere along the cotton fields of Georgia, Danna realized that all five of the items she had suggested shared the same first letter: C. Danna turned to Rhett and said, “What if everything we sell starts with the letter C?” Rhett, taken aback by the odd suggestion yet wanting to be supportive, said, “I like it, but aren’t we kinda cutting ourselves off at the chins a little bit?”

What ensued was as a rapid-fire and intense brainstorming session over the course of the drive that proved the concept had legs. Cheeseburgers. Chili. Ceviche. Cheesy Mac! Crab Cakes! Danna could barely keep up to record all of the ideas into the Notes app on her phone. By the time they reached Tampa a few hours later, The C House was born!

Guests can also enjoy live music on a bustling patio, browse a variety of retail items made in Tampa (hello, candles!), and support a locally-owned and operated business.
